Iwata Kazumasa
Born in Tokyo in 1946 and graduated from the Department of Regional Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo in 1970; studied at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Kiel University in 1972-73; served as an Administrator at the Monetary and Fiscal Policy Division, Department of Economics and Statistics, OECD (Paris) in 1976-79; Visiting Fellow at the Australia-Japan Research Center, Australia National University in 1985 and Visiting Professor at Alberta University and Visiting Fellow at Yale University in 1988; became Professor in 1996, Department of Advanced Social and International Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo, Director General in charge of economic assessment and policy analysis in 2001-2003; served as Deputy Governor, Bank of Japan in 2003-2008; Emeritus Professor, The University of Tokyo, in 2007; President, Economic and Social Research Institute, Cabinet Office in 2008; Member of the Council of Economic and Fiscal Policy in 2008-2009; President, Japan Center for Economic Research, from 2010. ; Member of the National Strategy Council in 2011.
